EQ: What is UPSL?

BR: Various word problems, made up each day by the teacher. Such as:

Two men are walking in two different directions from a house. The first man is walking at a pace of 10 steps per minute. The second man is walking at a pace of 8 steps a minute. How long will it take for the men to be exactly 72 steps apart?

Lesson:

  1. Discuss BR.
  2. Look at Problem Solving on Location: Michigan (Holt Middle School Math Textbook (Green) pg. 100 and 101).
  3. Look at Problem Solving on Location: New York (Holt Middle School Math Textbook (Green) pg. 162 and 103).
